Ho Man Tin Hill Road Rest Garden

In 1911, when the smallpox outbreak was raging, the Yau Ma Tei Smallpox Hospital emerged at the foot of Ho Man Tin Hill. At that time, Ho Man Tin Hill was dedicated as the cemetery of Kwong Wah Hospital for the burial of smallpox victims. Since then, for 30 years after the disappearance of smallpox, Ho Man Tin Hill has been used as a special cemetery for the ethnic Chinese until the 1930s. The government then resumed the land, and the name Ho Man Tin Road Hill Road was registered. In the 1960s, after the demolition of Ho Man Tin’s resettlement area, Ho Man Tin Hill was gradually developed into a high-class residential area for its prime location and scenic views. Along the middle section of Ho Man Tin Hill Road and on flat land is Ho Man Tin Hill Road Rest Garden. On its one side near Princess Margaret Road, the garden overlooks the densely packed Oi Man Estate. The garden’s best feature is the V-shaped pavilion formation and a rugged umbrella-shaped pavilion, which provides shade for the otherwise exposed area.
