Nga Tsin Wai Road Sitting-out Area

The origin of the name ‘Nga Tsin Wai’ has different versions. According to historical records, as early as the Southern Song Dynasty, the Kowloon City area was used as salt drying grounds governed by a yamen—the government office at that time. ‘Nga Tsin Wai’ in Chinese stands for the areas in front of a yamen. Nga Tsin Wai Road runs through the entire Kowloon City from east to west, intersecting with other north–south roads and becoming the backbone of the district. The sitting-out area is located at the western end of Nga Tsin Wai Road and is parallel to the road. The garden is organised and partitioned by cypress flower beds and pavilions, forming an S-shaped circulation path. Given the topography differences along the road, the sitting-out area was terraced on the edge of the road, overlooking the adjacent La Salle College.
