This sitting-out area is located on Cheung Tat Road, near the bottom of Cheung Tsing Bridge of Rambler Channel. Its triangular site was formed due to the height difference between Cheung Tat Road and the protective slope of Tsing Yi Heung Sze Wui Road. The sitting-out area is cut into several pieces by three 15 metres by 15 metres food stalls, commonly known as dung-gu-ting or ‘mushroom pavilions’. Spaces between the three food stalls are filled with flower beds, planting beds, pavilions, benches and even a basketball court at the northern end, which are rare sights in sitting-out areas. Temporary canopies, support frames and dining tables and chairs extend and occupy the space beyond the footprint of the three mushroom pavilions. It appears to be a declaration of the usage rights of food stalls within this sitting-out area. These features contribute to the hustle and bustle of Tsing Yi Industrial Centre and have become a gathering and resting place for nearby workers.
