Nullah Road’s name is derived from the former nullah in Mong Kok. The open-channel nullah could still be seen in aerial images dating back to 1935 until it was gradually blocked in the 1990s. The sitting-out area is along Goldfish Street, between Allied Plaza and Pioneer Centre. The layout of the sitting-out area is a parallelogram with a pedestrian passage in the middle, with benches and canopies on both sides for shade. The design concept for the area is primarily based on ‘water’ and the surrounding environment, such as the use of wave patterns for floor tiles and a pair of goldfish sculptures to represent ‘Goldfish Street’.
