The Fuk Wing Street Rest Garden is located in a triangular space framed by Fuk Wing Street, Wong Chuk Street and Tai Po Road. It is completely enclosed by half-height planting beds with an area of only 128 square metres. The rest garden’s space is well-optimised, demonstrated by the latrine added at the narrowest edge. Along the edge of the planting bed are two sets of shading pavilions and benches covered in climbers, squeezing as much space as possible. Despite the rest garden’s size, it is a good place for local residents to spend time, chat and cool down using only the most basic recreational facilities. It attempts to activate neighbourly socialisation in the densely packed and populated Sham Shui Po, repairing functions of neighbourhood services.
