Ngau Chi Wan Village Sitting-out Area

Ngau Chi Wan Village is one of the three oldest villages in the ‘Thirteen Kowloon Villages’. The ‘Gazetteer of Xin’an County’, published in 1819, has clearly marked Ngau Chi Wan and its location, divided into east and west villages. The origin of the name Ngau Chi Wan has different versions. One saying is that the large pool in the northwest of the village was shaped like a cow sleeping in the water, hence the name Ngau Chi (cow pool). With the resumption of land for the Choi Hung MTR Station in the 1970s, Ngau Chi Wan Village was gradually reduced to its current size. The entire village is expected to be demolished and converted to public housing by 2029/2030. The sitting-out area sits along the western boundary of Ngau Chi Wan Village, connecting the exit of the subway station and the V-shaped gentle slope on the hillside. It has benches along the path for people to rest and a stream flowing along the hillside road, which is visible from the path.
