‘Po Kong’ means the hills where people from Putian live. During the Southern Song Dynasty, the Lam Clan from Putian in eastern Fujian is claimed to have gone south and settled in Hong Kong. The indigenous village has long disappeared, currently becoming the area of Diamond Hill MTR Station and Po Kong Village Road. Po Kong Interchange Rest Garden is located on the boundaries of Diamond Hill and Tsz Wan Shan areas. Po Kong Village Road, Shung Wah Street and Po Tsz Lane delineate the triangular boundary of the rest garden. On the side of Po Tsz Lane and the community centre is a large retaining wall, planted with a sturdy large-leaf fig whose canopy can cover the entire rest garden, and an arched pavilion underneath. On the side near Shung Wah Street is also a pet park, but it cannot be accessed from the rest garden.
