The sitting-out area is located at the junction of Shek Lei, Shek Pai and On Chuk Streets. The waterfall next to the site connects the mountain stream from Shek Lei Hang, between the main mountain range of Kam Shan and Smuggler’s Ridge, to the city’s water channel. The sitting-out area spans towards east to west along intersecting bends. The east wing is equipped with an L-shaped prefabricated pavilion, a large red and green triangular house-shaped pavilion and a lawn extending to the end reaching Shek Lei Hang Village’s entrance. The west wing has a pavilion right against a waterfall as a cooling space. The site’s metre and storage rooms are also designed in the shape of a house, echoing the design language of the east wing—a spatial manifestation inspired by Chinese poetry (‘there are homes in the depths of mountains’).
