空置的天台對社區幾乎沒有任何實際意義，既不增加審美價值，也沒有服務於特定的功能目的。細碎的公共休憩用地不僅限於城市建築地面外的邊角地方，也可置於建築之上，本休息處可記為一例。由於熟食市場的主體建築倚靠坡地，為方便居民出入和承上啟下，休憩處在坡頂的民居旁增設入口小廣場，經林蔭階梯往下進入天台，再可從市場的螺旋樓梯離開至地面，釋放了空間的垂直交通潛力。場地充分利用熟食市場的建築型態，以建築的穹頂為同心圓，向外拓展幾個明快的條帶狀的涼亭和花圃來分割空間，即便是在午間飯市的喧囂之時也能在此享受愜意時光，天台的綠植更可一定程度上吸收和稀釋廚房的油煙。

Vacant rooftops are practically insignificant to local communities, adding neither aesthetic value nor functionality. Fragments of public open spaces are not only limited to corners on the edge of urban buildings but they can also be placed on rooftops, exemplified by this sitting-out area. Given that the main building of the cooked food market leans on a slope, a small entrance plaza is added next to residential buildings on top of the slope for residents’ access and site connectivity. The site is connected through tree-lined stairs and a spiral staircase to the ground from the market, showing the potential of a vertically connected space. The site makes full use of the architectural form of the cooked food market, building concentric circles starting from the roof dome and extending onto strip-shaped pavilions and flower beds as space dividers. People can enjoy a quiet and pleasant time even during the lunch hour. Rooftop vegetation is also helpful in absorbing and diluting nearby kitchen fumes.
