The Tai Hing North Sitting-out Area is located north of the balloon loop of Light Rail Tai Hing (North) Station in Tai Hing Estate, which the loop is used for U-turns in the event of a railway accident. The sitting-out area is an 870-square-metre small plaza framed by the railway boundary and the retaining wall of Tsing Tin Road. In 2014, the LCSD converted the original lawns into a sitting-out area under “District Minor Works”, which can be regarded as the western extension Tsing Tin Garden. The sitting-out area is laid out in four pavilions and a lawn near the edge of the railway, which was planted with long grass, wild chrysanthemum, Rhapis excelsa and several Bauhinia variegata, blurring fence borders and exuberant with life. The floor tiles of the plaza are also rich and colourful, using only simple lines to outline geometries of flowers, concentric circles and ribbons. Light rail trains often pass by the sitting-out area, going in and out of our sights—a dramatic sensation under the backdrop of cruciform blocks in Tai Hing Estate.
