Tsing Bik Sitting-out Area
Kadoorie, a prominent family who gained fame and fortune in Shanghai, built Boulder Lodge and Kadoorie Pier at Castle Peak Bay as a family vacation stay in the 1940s. During the 1950s, the family was responsible for the construction of Tuen Mun’s Tai Lam Chung Reservoir and aqueduct, thus Lawrence Kadoorie and his family would also spend weekends at the villa. A total of 6 forts were built around the villa for decorative purpose. One of the forts sits on a rock in Tsing Bik Sitting-Out Area. The sitting-out area was built in 2010 at the end of Tsing Bik Road, next to the wave-shaped Kadoorie Pier. The sitting-out area is characterized by simple design, and most of the fortress rocks and rubble are preserved. The main feature on site is the Yu Yam Pavilion, which was built in the mid-1980s and is now surrounded by flower beds. Visitors can enjoy the rippling blue waves of Castle Peak Bay Typhoon Shelter in the sea breeze.
