Pat Heung Sitting-out Area
Pat Heung Road is a branch road of the Route 3 (Country Park Section) project. After the Pat Heung Depot was built by the KCR West Rail (now Tuen Ma Line), Pat Heung Road viaduct was built to connect Route 3 to the west and village road to the east of the depot and was opened to traffic in 2001. In 2005, in order to mitigate the negative impact of the railway ground work on the feng shui of the Pat Heung area, KCR donated and built the Pat Heung Arch, a Chinese style paifang at the foot of the east side of the Pat Heung Road viaduct. Area around the paifang has since become a place for villagers to worship and give blessings. In 2018, the vacant land in front of the paifang was transformed by LCSD into a sitting-out area. It occupies a 650-square-metre site sandwiched by the Pat Heung Road roundabout and the viaduct. A T-shaped flowerbed surrounds the northwest side of the site and extends to the foot of the viaduct. Two pavilions are arranged along the flowerbed to provide shade and seating places.
