Kwong Nam Sitting-out Area

The Kwong Nam Sitting-out Area was built in the early 1980s. It was constructed at the same time as Kwong Fuk Estate across the river, acting as a resting space for its residents. The entrance of the estate is connected with the sitting-out area by a footbridge across the Tai Po River, for residents to easily travel to and from Tai Po Market. The sitting-out area is located on the triangular mound bounded by the east side of Nam Wan Road, the south bank of Lam Tsuen River and the west bank of Tai Po River. There are slopes and stairs to connect the various entrances and exits along the edge. At the top of the mound, a small platform for shading, viewing and fitness facilities is set up. This platform is the meeting point of all paths in the sitting-out area, with a 270-degree viewing angle of the waterscape where the two rivers intersect, and the distant green woods of Tai Po Waterfront Park towards northeast. At the bottom of the mound, there is a simple long walk along the river with prefabricated pavilions and seats, where you can admire the egrets scattered in groups up close. Along the mound are planted with Ilex rotunda var. microcarpa, Acacia confusa, Archontophoenix alexandrae and Lagerstroemia speciosa, constructing a layered landscape layout to better blend people into nature.
