Kong Pui Street Rest Garden

In the 1980s, Sha Tin was the first generation of new towns to be built, and Sha Tin Hoi was reclaimed to form the Shing Mun River, along the banks of which high-density residential and industrial areas were built. The Kong Pui Street Rest Garden extends in a J shape from the south bank of Shing Mun River towards Sha Tin Wai. It reaches 500 metres at its east and west ends and is bisected by streets into six sub-gardens. The first four are straight, continuous green corridors running parallel to the western section of Pui Kong Street. Its semi-circular trellis pavilions and benches are laid along the walkway, providing a quiet transition of greenery between the large private housing estates and the school clusters in the area. The fifth and sixth gardens have been transformed into a vibrant venue with open piazzas, basketball courts and gymnasiums, making full use of the space created by the intersection of Sha Tin Wai Road and Sha Tin Road, as well as the intersection and staggering of the Tuen Ma Line Flyover.
